Undergraduate Research Assistant and Youth Mentor

We are currently recruiting education and engineering undergraduates to join an engineering education program called GET City which is focused on engineering for sustainable communities, located in the Boys & Girls Club of Lansing.

We have multiple roles available for undergraduate assistants: help is needed with transcriptions (flexible hours, can work remotely) and within GET City - supporting youth in their design work and scaffolding opportunities for them to develop engineering plans that address community sustainability.

-Opportunities to conduct engineering and education research with MSU faculty and graduate students, produce first-author papers, and present findings at conferences and workshops across the U.S. -Opportunities to network with educational researchers for equitable learning in STEM, engineering professors, local venture capitalists, incubator representatives, and community/city leaders

-Opportunities to enhance mentoring/leadership, public speaking, and community engagement/community leadership skills

-Opportunities to attend small, personalized skill-building and reflection workshops with MSU faculty and graduate students in the College of Education

-Recommendation letters and professional introductions

-Show interest in facilitating equitable learning opportunities for youth of color in Lansing -Demonstrate skills of responsibility, consistency, and communication -Show interest in developing leadership skills -Must demonstrate a commitment to social justice
